Everyone deserves to be protected from Trump and his Deportation Machine, aka ICE.

DRUM, along with SAALT, 18MR and several community partners are leading the grassroots effort to say No to the Citizenship Question in the 2020 Census.

The Census is critical to the survival and well-being of all our communities, especially frontline communities and the potential adding of a Citizenship Question is an attempt to deter and intimidate us from accessing our rights to resources for our schools, hospitals, roads, public parks, housing and political representation.

Undermining democracy, human rights, and representation

The citizenship question on the census will:
1. Put undocumented or mixed status households at risk that their information will be used against them individually or in the aggregate
2. The fear of this risk will cause most undocumented or mixed status families to not fill out the census thus causing a loss in funding and representation allocated to them
3. The constitution demands that all person get counted. This question inherently undermines the intent of the constitution

The citizenship question on a census is unconstitutional, anti-democratic, and anti-human rights, and should be removed from the census.
