Organizing for Administrative Relief

Over the past seven months, DRUM members have organized for Administrative Relief that benefits all immigrants, and won a commitment from President Obama that he would take executive action this summer. But on September 6th, the President announced that that he would delay taking action until after the mid-term elections. This political decision comes at the expense of our families and communities, and will result in at least another 70,000 immigrants being deported.

As part of United the United We Dream Network, over 18 DRUM members went to DC on July 28th to hold the President and elected leaders accountable to their word, and continue to organize to ensure that Administrative Relief benefits all immigrants, end deportations, and does not come coupled with increased enforcement measures. DRUM members spoke in front of the White House about their why the undocumented immigrant community demands Deferred Action for all. You can view DRUM youth leaders, Nayim Islam’s speech here!
