August 15th 2017 – It is our duty to fight for our freedom, it is our duty to win! Over 700 people gathered with DRUM, The New York Immigration Coalition, MinKwon Center for Community Action, Columbia County Sanctuary Movement, Black Alliance for Just Immigration, Families for Freedom, Make the Road NY, and many others a few blocks from Trump Tower to demand that deportation- protection programs like DACA and TPS stay in place, and to halt policies like Broken windows policing and any future Muslim Registry that criminalize Black and brown immigrant communities, funneling us into deportation and prison systems.

Shout out to the speakers who spoke out for the first time publicly about being undocumented!

We won DACA because we fought for it, and we will fight to keep it!

This August 15th will mark the five year anniversary since DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) started. DACA was won because of the resistance led by immigrant youth across the country to win protection from deportation. With the Trump administration, DACA is under attack. More than 800,000 young people are in danger of losing DACA, due to the lawsuit by Texas Attorney General Paxton.

Temporary Protected Status (TPS) has provided 350,000 immigrants the ability to live free from the threat of deportation and granted them work permits. Now, the program is under attack by Trump and Gen. Kelly. We must rally to defend the program and ensure that all of our communities are protected from deportation. DACA and TPS are both critical to protecting undocumented youth, families and workers from being deported. They are programs that are integral to the survival and well-being of all immigrant communities.

To demand the following:

Save DACA and TPS from being dismantled.
Stop the criminalization of all undocumented immigrants.
